I have written the music, lyrics and librettos for the following three musicals. For more details, please contact me by visiting my website at www.manchester.ac.uk and go to ‘alex baratta’.

LOVE FROM ABOVE - Performed at the Mayflower Club in North Hollywood, California on 12/1/91 and 12/6/98. This is a love story in the mold of the TV show ‘Touched by an Angel’. Through the delivery of love letters, an angel brings together a lonely man and woman. Sample songs include What a Time We’ll Have and Love Doesn’t Have to Be a Stranger. A VHS videotaped copy of the musical is available (website located at www.mayflowerclub.com).

BETWEEN TWO WARS - An interracial love story between a black American GI and a white German woman during World War II. The GI is rescued by the German woman and realises he is caught between two enemies: the Nazis, and racism within his own army ranks, hence the title. Sample songs include The Hometown I Remember and The Love That I’ve Been Waiting For.

ONLY IN LA - A parody about life in LA with people singing about their own unique ‘LA experience’. Here we see the aspiring garage band, the big shot movie director and the new age spiritual guru, among others. Sample songs include I’m Having an Affair and I’m Starting a New Religion.

Playwright/librettist seeking composer and/or producer to write score for my thirty-song play Denial and Recovery (alternate titles; Carpe Diem, The Elephant in the Living Room) which treats the topics of alcoholism and codependency in a lighthearted yet serious manner in a non-preachy, creative, highly entertaining format.  Evoking every emotion from the gut-wrenching to the ridiculuos in an old-fashioned classical Broadway style, the play is a blend reminiscent of Shakespeare, Sondheim, and Seuss.  No payments now, seeking partner to share profits when play is produced.

WEB SITE: http://www.singlelane.com/proplay/
ProPlay is the premier site on the web for online, professionally-produced stage plays. You may browse our play scripts by category or by playwright name.  In many cases, the playwright has chosen to have the entire script posted; in all cases, substantial portions of the play may be read free-of-charge now.

ProPlay has been created to make the scripts of professionally-produced stage plays available to a wider readership, and to a wider pool of potential producers, than conventional play publishing allows. In many instances, however, our scripts are also available in print. Where that's the case, we have provided a link for those who prefer to buy the print version of the play. All scripts are copyright the playwright, and performance rights must be secured before the play is produced.

"I am the creator of "At Last" a musical based on the life and career of Glenn Miller. Although Miller’s music is still played around the world, a theatrical production about him has never been done...until now. This musical premiered in the United Kingdom and, recently, made its American debut in Virginia. My script is adaptable for either a small venue with limited singers, dancers and musicians or an "all-out" production with full orchestra and a large cast. I am currently looking for production possibilities in this country. Check out the "At Last" website for more information."
